FRIENDSWOOD – A fatal crash overnight in Friendswood claimed the life of one driver and temporarily shut down a portion of FM 528 early Thursday morning.
According to a Friendswood police press release, the crash occurred around 1:30 a.m. near the intersection of FM 528 and Falcon Ridge Boulevard. The incident involved two vehicles, one of which rolled over.
Emergency crews extracted the driver of the overturned vehicle, who was transported to a nearby hospital. Despite life-saving efforts, the driver later died from her injuries. The driver of the second vehicle involved was also taken to the hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
Police closed all lanes of FM 528 for several hours to allow the department’s crash team to investigate the scene. Drivers were advised to use FM 2351 or Friendswood Parkway as alternate routes during the closure.
As of 6 a.m., the roadway has been cleared and reopened to traffic.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation. No names have been released.
