KGTX 7 is a private, independent and educational news organization that launched in April 2025. We are not affiliated with a parent company, political party, or government agency, and we do not receive government funding.

Our mission is to provide factual, fair, and unbiased reporting by presenting the facts of every story accurately and objectively.

Most of our journalists are recent college graduates with degrees in communications, broadcast journalism, or audio/video production. We intentionally recruit early-career journalists so we can mentor them in the principles of accurate, fair, and impartial reporting.

Corrections in Media

While our mission is to report fairly and accurately every time, we acknowledge that errors may occur. Each story at the bottom of the page will have a submit a correction or typo button. We will ensure each correction notice is reviewed and corrected, if needed.

KGTX 7 Growth Performance

Growth throughout 2026 has more than doubled the numbers from the corresponding months in 2025. For instance, follower counts started at around 12,500 in January 2026 and have steadily climbed past 23,500 by August, whereas the entire previous year peaked near 11,000 in December. The 2026 curve maintains a consistent, linear upward slope month-over-month without any major stagnation periods, indicating healthy and sustained audience acquisition.

A.I. Content Policy

KGTX 7 is committed to accurate, transparent and human-led journalism. Artificial intelligence may assist with limited production tasks, but it does not replace the reporting, judgment or accountability of our journalists.

We do not use AI to:

• Conduct original reporting or replace direct contact with sources
• Independently determine whether information is factual
• Invent quotations, sources, evidence, images, video or audio
• Publish fully automated articles, scripts or news videos
• Impersonate journalists, sources or members of the public
• Independently respond to news tips, correction requests or other substantive messages from the public
• Make final editorial decisions

We may use AI to:

• Proofread or copy edit material written and reviewed by journalists
• Help organize, summarize or format information already obtained by our newsroom
• Assist with drafts based exclusively on reporting and source material supplied by our journalists
• Reduce background noise or improve the technical quality of authentic recordings
• Transcribe interviews and public meetings
• Produce text-to-speech audio from scripts written and approved by a human

All AI-assisted material must be reviewed by a KGTX 7 journalist before publication. Facts, quotations and claims must be verified using original or authoritative sources. KGTX 7 remains fully responsible for everything it publishes, regardless of whether AI assisted in its production.

AI-generated or materially altered images, video or audio will not be presented as authentic news footage. If such material is used for illustration, it will be clearly labeled.

Guest opinion and commentary submissions may be created under different circumstances. However, contributors are expected to disclose substantial AI assistance, and KGTX 7 reserves the right to edit, label or reject such submissions.

Content Removal Policy

As a news organization, our primary duty is to provide an accurate, permanent, and transparent historical record of events in our community. Because of this responsibility, our general policy is not to alter, remove, or “un-publish” content from our website or social media channels simply because an individual or group finds it unfavorable or inconvenient.

Erasing published history undermines public trust and compromises our editorial independence. If an article contains a factual error, we will not remove the article. Instead, we will promptly correct the error. If you believe an article contains a factual error, you must provide specific evidence of the inaccuracy.

We recognize that the justice system moves forward. If we covered an individual’s arrest, charge, or investigation, and that case was later dismissed, expunged, or resulted in an acquittal, we will update the story to reflect the final legal outcome.

Policy on Blocked Accounts

KGTX 7 reserves the right to moderate its privately owned social media comment sections. On occasion, our admins may block accounts for the following conditions:

• Harassment towards other users
• Impersonating others or using parody
• Habitual off topic comments
• Engaging in spam behavior
• Racist or threatening behavior

While our social media may be open to the public, participating on our platform is still a privilege. First time bans will remain in place for 6 months. An additional ban will remain permanent, however banned users can still access our content on this website.
