League City Police Chase Ends in Friendswood; 2 Arrested

LEAGUE CITY – Two Houston men are in custody following a theft and high-speed chase that began at an Ulta Beauty store in League City on Tuesday afternoon.

League City Police arrested 30-year-old Orlando Ferrer Garcia and 20-year-old Fernando Grabey Suarez after they allegedly fled the scene of a theft in progress at the Ulta Beauty location at 3120 S Gulf Freeway, Suite A.

According to a press release, officers were notified around 3:00 p.m. about the theft, and the suspects were reported to be leaving in a silver Chevy Cobalt. Officer Jones, who was nearby, located the vehicle around 3:01 p.m. and attempted a traffic stop. Garcia, identified as the driver, reportedly refused to stop, initiating a vehicle pursuit.

The chase continued onto S IH-45, through the NASA Bypass, SH 3, and FM 518. It came to an end around 3:15 p.m. in the 1300 block of S Friendswood Drive in Friendswood, when the vehicle struck a curb and stopped in a grassy area.

Garcia and Suarez were taken into custody without further incident.

Garcia has been charged with evading arrest or detention with a motor vehicle, with a $250,000 bond, and theft of property valued between $2,500 and $30,000, with a $60,000 bond.

Suarez has been charged with theft of property valued between $2,500 and $30,000, with a $10,000 bond, and tampering with evidence, also with a $10,000 bond.

No injuries were reported. The case remains under investigation.
