TEXAS CITY — The City of Texas City announced this year’s Great American Cleanup, set for Saturday, May 3, from 9 a.m. to noon.
Volunteers are needed at the following locations:
- Carver Park – 6415 Park Ave.
- Sanders Park – 501 Fourth Ave. N.
- The Bell House – 117 S. Bell Drive (in the historic 1867 Settlement District)
Participants will assist with litter removal, painting, and planting, city officials said.
Titilayo Smith, director of community development and grants administration, is urging community groups, businesses, schools, families, and individuals to take part. Volunteers of all ages are welcome; however, children 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
All cleanup materials will be provided, including trash bags, gloves, and grabbers, along with light refreshments for volunteers.
The event is organized through a partnership between the City of Texas City, Keep Texas City Beautiful, and several local community groups. It’s part of the national Great American Cleanup, a 25+ year tradition aimed at beautifying and restoring communities.
As the United States approaches its 250th birthday in 2026, this year’s campaign is especially ambitious, with a national goal of removing 25 billion pieces of litter from parks, waterways, and public spaces by July 4, 2026.
