Felon Arrested After Narcotics, Firearm, and Body Armor Seized in Dickinson

DICKINSON — A Dickinson man is facing multiple felony charges after law enforcement officials discovered a firearm, narcotics, and body armor during a search at a local residence on Tuesday.

On May 6, members of the Galveston County Organized Crime Task Force (OCTF), with assistance from the Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) and the Galveston County S.W.A.T. team, executed a search warrant at a home located at 3513 Missouri Avenue in Dickinson.

Inside the residence, investigators recovered a shotgun, body armor, and a small amount of cocaine. The suspect, identified as 53-year-old Alejandro Cruz, was arrested at the scene.

Cruz has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon – bond set at $100,000
  • Unlawful Possession of Metal or Body Armor by a Felon – bond set at $100,000
  • Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1, under 1 gram – bond set at $100,000

The Organized Crime Task Force is a proactive multi-agency unit made up of officers from the League City, Dickinson, and La Marque Police Departments. The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office also credited the contributions of its Crime Reduction Unit, S.W.A.T. Team, and Crime Scene Unit in the successful operation.

Officials say the arrest is part of an ongoing effort to target criminal activity and enhance public safety throughout Galveston County.
