LA MARQUE – A late-night police pursuit that began in La Marque ended in a dramatic rollover crash in League City on Thursday, May 15.

La Marque Police told KGTX 7, the chase began around 10:37 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 3 and FM 519. The suspect fled at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour, heading south on I-45 toward Galveston before reversing course and continuing northbound into League City. The pursuit came to an end at the intersection of League City Parkway and Egret Bay Boulevard, where the suspect’s vehicle rolled over.

The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital by emergency medical services. He is currently in police custody.

Deputy Chief Chad Waggoner stated that investigators are reviewing footage from body and in-car cameras to recover potential evidence believed to have been thrown from the vehicle during the chase.

Despite the high speeds, Waggoner said the decision was made not to terminate the pursuit due to low traffic volume at that hour. He also noted that individuals who flee from police often have more serious offenses they are trying to conceal.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, and no injuries were reported among civilians or law enforcement.

The suspect faces a felony charge of evading arrest, with additional charges under review. His bond has not yet been confirmed.
