HITCHCOCK – The Galveston County Pickle Festival wrapped up its second and final day on Sunday, drawing a steady crowd of families, food lovers, and local shoppers. The event ran from noon to 5 p.m., giving visitors plenty of time to enjoy all the festival had to offer.
More than 200 vendors were set up across the Galveston County Fairgrounds. Many sold pickle-themed items, including flavored pickles, fried snacks, and even pickle pizza. Others offered goods and services not related to pickles, like homemade clothing, self-defense information for women, and bottle lights being sold to raise scholarship money in memory of a vendor’s late daughter.
Music played throughout the day, and food trucks served creative takes on classic fair food—many with a pickle twist. Families also enjoyed a pickle eating contest, and kids gathered for a fun magic show, which kept the younger crowd entertained.

“It’s my first time here,” said one visitor. “I came for the pickles but ended up watching a magic show and leaving with a handmade light. It’s been a hot day though.”
LeeAnn Soto, the event’s organizer—who also put together the Pickle Festival in Alvin last year—said she was pleased with the turnout and plans to bring the event back next year.
“The support from the community has been great,” Soto said. “We’ve had a good mix of vendors, happy visitors, and a little something for everyone. I definitely plan to do it again.”
Festival organizers say the event is about more than just pickles. It’s also about supporting small businesses, showcasing creativity, and bringing the community together.
With strong attendance and positive feedback, vendors and guests alike say they’re looking forward to what’s in store for next year.
