DICKINSON — A crash early Wednesday morning resulted in two injuries, with one taken to the hospital, after two SUVs crashed in Dickinson.

It happened around 1:15 a.m. in the 4600 block of 30th Street East, near Dickinson Avenue. Firefighters and medics quickly arrived to help.

One SUV hit a tree just a few feet away from a house, while the other ended up in the street. Firefighters had to cut the door off the one in the street to get the driver out.

Dickinson PD officials said the cause of the crash is still under investigation, but believe driver inattention to detail may be to blame.

Neighbors nearby said they didn’t see what happened, but they heard a loud bang.

“There was a loud bang” one neighbor said. “I have security cameras, but unfortunately they didn’t capture anything.”

Property damage was reported, which included a tree, chain link fence, and mailbox.

Police haven’t said yet if anyone is being charged. The road was blocked off for over an hour while crews cleaned up and looked into what happened.

Correction: After speaking with Dickinson PD on Wednesday Afternoon, Officials have no evidence to support the suspicion that street racing was to blame. Officials cited driver inattention to detail was most likely to blame. While two injuries were reported, only one was transported, with others refusing medical attention.
