FRIENDSWOOD — A 58-year-old man was arrested in the early hours of Saturday morning after leading police on a dangerous pursuit while driving the wrong way down South Friendswood Drive. Friendswood made the announcement via press release.
The incident began around 1:39 a.m. on May 24, when a Friendswood Police sergeant observed a white Tesla speeding toward his patrol vehicle in the wrong lanes near the 1400 block of S. Friendswood Drive. The sergeant quickly turned around and attempted to stop the vehicle, which was reportedly nearly colliding with oncoming traffic.
The Tesla briefly stopped at the intersection of S. Friendswood Drive and W. Willowick Avenue but then sped off again as the officer approached. Responding officers deployed stop sticks in the 200 block of S. Friendswood Drive, successfully deflating one of the vehicle’s tires and bringing the pursuit to an end.

The driver, identified as Michelaire Medor, was taken into custody at the scene. He faces several charges, including evading arrest in a motor vehicle—a third-degree felony—driving while intoxicated, and possession of dangerous drugs, both Class A misdemeanors. Authorities confirmed the DWI charge followed a breath sample provided by the suspect.
The Friendswood Police Department expressed relief that no injuries were reported and praised the quick thinking of the officers involved. “We are grateful no one was hurt during this incident,” the department said in a statement. “We commend our officers for their swift response and strategic action.”
Medor is currently awaiting further legal proceedings in Galveston County.
