GILCHRIST – Authorities have released the identities of the individuals involved in the tragic double homicide that unfolded late Friday night in Gilchrist.

The victims have been identified as Eric Dopp, 45, of Houston, and his daughter, Wisdom Hall, 24, of Pearland. According to the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, the alleged shooter was Johnathan Findley, 38, of Pasadena.

The incident occurred around 11:30 PM on May 30 in the 900 block of Kirkpatrick Road. Deputies responded to reports of gunfire and arrived to find both victims deceased outside a residence. Investigators say a verbal altercation between the three individuals escalated, resulting in Findley allegedly shooting Dopp and Hall before fleeing the scene in a white vehicle.

Deputies issued a regional alert for the suspect’s vehicle. A short time later, the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office located a vehicle matching the description and initiated a pursuit. The chase ended near the 200 block of the I-10 service road, where Findley reportedly barricaded himself inside the car and ultimately took his own life with a self-inflicted gunshot.

Authorities confirmed that all individuals involved were acquainted and had been visiting a mutual friend of the suspect in Gilchrist. The exact cause of the argument that preceded the violence remains under investigation.

The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit continues to investigate. More information will be released as it becomes available.
