LA MARQUE – Tuesday, a search warrant was executed in the 600 Block of Rosedale Street in La Marque in collaboration by both members of the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office Criminal (GCSO) Investigation Division and the Houston Metro Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. The investigation was commenced after they received a cyber-tip from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).

Three arrests were made—two of whom were 49-year-olds, Nieves Castillo Guzman and Javier Escobedo Rangel—during the execution of the search warrant along with the seizure of their electronic devices. Additional evidence gathered by investigators led to the arrest of Edgar Javier Escobedo Castillo (18). He was charged with Possession of Child Pornography — children younger than 10 years of age and was placed on an additional bond of $40,000.

An immigration status check was put forth by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) — Galveston. It was determined that all three adults were currently residing in the United States illegally, and were therefore placed on immigration hold.

The GCSO acknowledged the efforts of the Houston Metro ICAC Task Force and other participants such as Homeland Security Investigations in Galveston, Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office and police departments in Pearland, Texas City, Hitchcock and Galveston.

Acknowledgments were also given to U.S. ICE in Galveston, GSCO Crime Scene Unit and GCSO Crime Reduction Unit for their assistance.
