After eight years since Nintendo’s last console, the time is finally upon us that a new gaming system will be out in the world for players and fans alike to get their hands on. Well, hopefully. Back on April 24, pre-orders opened for the Nintendo Switch 2, the official new console from Nintendo. However, pre-orders only opened for select stores like Best Buy, GameStop, and Target. While some players thought they secured a console, some were soon canceled after the stores posted that had sold out of pre-order units.

The Nintendo Switch 2 was announced during a Nintendo Direct on April 2nd. The livestream showcased the console and highlighted some of the big changes that Nintendo made that differ from the original Switch. Some of those highlights were a bigger screen, JoyCons that are now magnetically connected where the original Switch’s were put on by sliders, as well as the fact the controllers can also transform into a mouse-like mode.

During the Nintendo Switch 2 announcement Direct, they also shared many accessories that will be available for the console as well. This included a new updated Pro Controller, JoyCon insert wheels for Mario Kart, and also cameras that can be plugged into the Nintendo Switch 2 dock and used within video chat calls. That’s another big thing that was announced, the ability to voice chat and video chat straight from the console without having to use another application like Discord or another.

With the console having so many exciting changes and updates, many people lined up virtually to attempt at getting the console. Some were successful before the console sold out. But for those that didn’t end up getting a pre-order that night are in luck! With release day fast approaching on June 5th, we have a lineup of different ways and places a Nintendo Switch 2 can be secured.

Midnight Releases Are Happening At Many Stores June 5th

Midnight releases are something gamers love, not only because gamers are nightowls as is, but also because that means they get their hands on the console sooner than those waiting for it to be shipped to their house. They get the console as soon as release day hits the calendars. Not every store will be doing midnight releases but some well and below is a list of ones to expect.

  • Best Buy – will be doing pick ups for those who ore-ordered the console already, any extra units will be available for others to purchase at midnight. It would be recommended to lineup early to ensure possible purchase of the console. A limited number of Nintendo Switch 2 / Best Buy coins will also be handed out to customers that night while supplies last. Be sure to check local stores to make sure they are also apart of the midnight releases.
  • GameStop – alike like Best Buy, GameStop will be fulfilling pre-orders at midnight on release any extra consoles will be sold to other customers at midnight on June 5th. It would also be recommended to line up early as every store will have limited supplies that will go fast. Select GameStop will also be handing out a free Red Bull to those who did pre-order a console to make sure they are ready for their night of gaming or streaming ahead! GameStop will also be allowing pre-orders again at 3 PM on June 4th, that customers can pick up at midnight.

These are not the only stores that will have extra consoles, but these are the only ones that will offer midnight releases. Below is a list of some stores that have been confirmed so far to have extra units on June 5th.

For now, these are the only stores that will for sure be receiving the Nintendo Switch 2 console. Please note, these consoles will most likely sell out quickly so if you intend to get one, it is best to show up early. A few more things to note before heading to stores on June 5th to attempt to purchase the console.

  • The console itself will costs $449.99 before taxes, accessories, or games.
  • Some sites won’t have the Nintendo Switch 2 console online until June 6th.
  • Accessories and games could also be really hard to get at certain stores with limited supplies.

Finally, those who signed up for the notification from Nintendo’s official website will also get an invitation to purchase the console…at some point. Right now, it could be a while but some invites have previously went out so hopefully many more will go out soon.

The next week is going to be exciting with Nintendo finally releasing another console. It is time to prepare and soon head out into the world to try and get our hands on the console so we can enjoy the next generation of Nintendo gaming.
