GALVESTON – Last Saturday, Galveston police responded to reports of gunfire targeting a moving vehicle near the 4400 block of Avenue M. According to a Galveston PD press release, the incident began as the victim was leaving the beach near 45th Street and Seawall Boulevard.

Police say the victim noticed a dark-colored sedan driving erratically. At a traffic light, several women exited the sedan, but the vehicle later resumed driving and began following the victim northbound on 45th Street.

The situation escalated when the sedan’s driver passed the victim on the shoulder of the road and opened fire, discharging multiple rounds at the victim’s vehicle. The victim quickly pulled over and called 911.

When officers arrived, they found the victim’s car riddled with bullet holes consistent with the report. Investigators also recovered shell casings and bullet fragments on the east side of the 1300 block of 45th Street.

Police are currently searching for a suspect described as a mixed ethnicity male in his 20s, last seen driving a dark-colored sedan.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to contact the Galveston Police Department’s Investigative Services Bureau at (409) 765-3702 or Galveston County Crime Stoppers at (409) 763-8477.
