League City Woman Arrested After Crashing Into Multiple Parked Vehicles in Newport Neighborhood

LEAGUE CITY — A woman was arrested Monday night after crashing into several parked cars in League City’s Newport neighborhood, according to police and early reports from Grizzy’s Hood News.

The crash occurred around 8:31 p.m. on Newport Boulevard near S Colonial Court. Witnesses told Grizzy’s Hood News that the woman drove over a curb and collided with about five unoccupied vehicles—some parked on the street, others in driveways. Her car eventually came to rest on top of another vehicle.

Bystanders described the driver as visibly upset and allegedly heard her blaming the parked vehicles for “being in her way.” League City police arrived at the scene and conducted a field sobriety test before detaining the driver.

On Tuesday, League City Police Department spokesperson Officer Jose Ortega confirmed with KGTX 7, that 35-year-old Chasse Champagne, a League City resident, was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated with a Blood Alcohol Concentration of 0.15 or more. The charge is a Class A misdemeanor. Her bond was set at $2,500.

No injuries were reported. The posted speed limit on the residential street is 20 miles per hour.

The incident remains under investigation.
