LEAGUE CITY – A protest tied to the national “No Kings” movement is scheduled to take place in League City on Saturday, June 14. The event is one of over 1,400 being organized across the country in response to President Donald Trump’s planned military parade in Washington, D.C.
Organizers describe the movement as a “peaceful, civic-based demonstration” aimed at rejecting authoritarianism and political overreach. The League City gathering is listed on the official No Kings event website, and organizers say it’s open to the public at 555 West Walker Street.
The League City Police Department has confirmed it is monitoring the event.
“LCPD is aware of the scheduled peaceful protest and has been in contact with the organizers,” said Officer Jose Ortega. “A post will be made to our social media accounts either this evening or tomorrow for community awareness and how LCPD will be ensuring the safety and well-being of our community.”
Despite assurances, some local residents have voiced concern to KGTX 7 and on social media, saying they worry the protest could become volatile due to its political nature—especially as unrest continues in Los Angeles.
Organizers have stressed that the event is designed to be nonviolent, and protest marshals and de-escalation protocols will be in place.
KGTX 7 will have reporters at the event and will continue to follow developments.
