SAN ANTONIO — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seized more than $6.7 million worth of methamphetamine during a major drug bust at the Texas-Mexico border earlier this week, according to a report from FOX San Antonio.

The seizure occurred on June 10 at the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility, where CBP officers referred a tractor-trailer arriving from Mexico for secondary inspection.

Utilizing a non-intrusive inspection system and a K-9 unit, officers discovered 166 packages of suspected methamphetamine concealed within the vehicle. The packages weighed a combined 753.98 pounds, with an estimated street value of $6,740,100, officials said.

“The cargo environment continues to be a top choice for trafficking organizations, but our CBP officers, along with our tools and technology, are a force to be reckoned with,” Port Director Carlos Rodriguez said in a statement to FOX San Antonio.

The vehicle and narcotics were seized, and Homeland Security Investigations has launched a criminal investigation into the case.
