KEMAH — A man was safely taken into custody early Sunday morning after attempting to harm himself on the Kemah Bridge, according to law enforcement.
The incident began as a call to the Seabrook Police Department, who requested assistance from the Kemah Police Department and the Harris County Precinct 8 Constable’s Office.
In a statement released on social media Sunday morning, the Kemah Police Department confirmed that “an incident up on the Kemah Bridge where someone was attempting to harm himself” was resolved peacefully with the help of a trained negotiator and responding agencies.
“Thanks to the assistance of a Negotiator and agencies from the area, this incident was resolved with a peaceful resolution,” the department stated.
We have reached out to the Seabrook Police Department for additional details and are awaiting a return call.
Traffic over the bridge was briefly impacted during the response. The man involved is most likely receiving medical and mental health support. No further information has been released at this time.
