LEAGUE CITY — Two suspects were arrested Tuesday evening after allegedly fleeing from police during a stolen vehicle pursuit in League City, according to a press release issued by the League City Police Department on Wednesday.
Officers arrested Ayden Williams, 19, of Houston, and Tyreq Lazare, 18, of Texas City, following a chase that began shortly after 8 p.m. on June 17. Williams has been charged with evading arrest/detention with a vehicle with previous convictions, with bond set at $30,000. Lazare faces a charge of evading arrest/detention on foot, with bond set at $2,500.
The incident began when the department’s Flock Safety license plate reader system alerted officers to a stolen yellow Chevrolet Camaro traveling eastbound on West League City Parkway near West Walker Street. Officer Ramirez, a K9 unit officer with LCPD, located the vehicle heading toward South State Highway 3 and initiated surveillance until backup arrived.

Once additional units were in place, officers conducted a felony traffic stop at the intersection of Olive Avenue and Hill Avenue. According to the department, the vehicle’s occupants refused to comply with commands and fled south on Hill Avenue toward FM 646.
During the attempted escape, the Camaro reportedly struck the rear quarter panel of an F-350 pickup truck towing a cargo trailer. The driver of the F-350 was unharmed and declined medical treatment.
Police say both suspects exited the Camaro and fled on foot. Williams was apprehended after jumping a fence, where officers deployed a taser that successfully subdued him. Meanwhile, Officer Ramirez deployed K9 Rex, who tracked Lazare through a wooded area, leading to his arrest without further incident.
The case remains under investigation.
