Body of Missing Jet Skier Recovered in Galveston Bay

GALVESTON — The search for a missing jet skier in Galveston Bay has come to a tragic end.

On Monday afternoon, the U.S. Coast Guard confirmed to KGTX 7 that the body of the man was recovered. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. His identity has not yet been confirmed publicly, and an autopsy is underway with the Galveston County coroner to determine the exact cause of death.

The man was last seen around 2:30 p.m. Sunday near the Bolivar Ferry while riding a white, gray, and orange Sea-Doo. He was wearing blue shorts and a white and green fishing shirt.

His jet ski was discovered around 5:30 p.m. east of San Leon with his personal belongings still onboard, prompting an extensive search and rescue effort.

The multi-agency operation included the U.S. Coast Guard Stations in Galveston and Houston, the Texas City Fire Department, and volunteers from Harris County EquuSearch.

Authorities have not released any further information at this time. The investigation remains ongoing.
