A Houston man was arrested June 24 after police say he committed several armed robberies and led officers on a chase through Pearland and Friendswood.

According to a June 25 press release from the Pearland Police Department, 31-year-old Eric Vaughn Gibson II is believed to be responsible for at least five aggravated robberies. Two happened in Pearland, one in Manvel, and two others in Brazoria County jurisdiction.

Police say Gibson robbed the Shell station at 12825 Shadow Creek Parkway on May 19 and the Buc-ee’s at 11151 Shadow Creek Parkway on June 12. On June 24, officers say he robbed the Chevron gas station at 17230 Highway 6 in Manvel around 9 p.m.

After the Chevron robbery, officers chased Gibson east on Broadway. His vehicle crashed in Friendswood and became disabled. Police say he ran into a neighborhood on foot.

Air support from the Texas Department of Public Safety followed him from above. Officers on the ground set up a perimeter. Pearland Police used K9 Bowie to search the area. When Gibson jumped a fence, he landed in front of Pearland officers and was arrested without any trouble.

He was taken to the Pearland Jail. He is facing the following charges:

  • Five counts of aggravated robbery
  • Felon in possession of a firearm
  • Evading arrest with a vehicle
  • Pearland Police say the investigation is still active.
