Suspect Arrested After Vehicle Prowling Report in Friendswood

FRIENDSWOOD – A man was arrested early Tuesday morning after a press release said he was caught looking into cars at an apartment complex.

Around 1:26 a.m. on July 1, Friendswood police responded to a report of a suspicious person at the Baywood Apartments in the 4900 block of FM 2351. When officers arrived, they saw a man matching the description. He ran from police and jumped a fence but was caught shortly after.

The man was identified as Gary Buchanan, 22, of Port St. Lucie, Florida. He’s been charged with evading arrest or detention, according to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.

Police also responded to several other incidents over the weekend at Bay Meadows Apartments on Blackhawk Boulevard. Three vehicle burglaries and one stolen vehicle were reported.

Friendswood police are reminding residents to lock their cars, remove valuables, and report any suspicious activity to the non-emergency line at 281-996-3300. They also thanked the resident who reported the incident, saying their quick call helped lead to an arrest.
