Fire Marshals Investigating Illegal RV Burning in San Leon

SAN LEON – A fire near 2935 Avenue N in San Leon has been extinguished after burning multiple recreational vehicles and releasing smoke that affected nearby residents.

According to Battalion Chief Micah Simons, individuals were using the site to illegally dismantle and burn RVs.

The fire involved plastics and other materials commonly found in RVs, which caused complaints from residents reporting burning eyes and nose irritation.

Some residents said they could smell the smoke from as far as 2,500 to 3,000 feet away.

The case is under investigation by local fire marshals. No individuals have been identified or charged at this time.

Texas City officials are aware of the incident and are expected to return to the site for further evaluation.
