BACLIFF — A Texas City man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the fatal fentanyl overdose of a young mother in Bacliff, according to a Galveston County Sheriff’s Office Press Release.
Crista Carlin, 26, was found dead on May 13 by her 5-year-old son inside their Bacliff home. Investigators say toxicology results confirmed she died from a fentanyl-laced narcotic.
A weeks-long investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit identified 33-year-old Seth Harris as the person who allegedly provided the deadly drug.
The Galveston County District Attorney’s Office reviewed the case and accepted charges of murder and tampering with evidence against Harris. His total bond was set at $350,000.
On July 7, deputies with the Sheriff’s Office SWAT team arrested Harris at the WoodSpring Suites hotel in Texas City. A search of his hotel room resulted in the seizure of additional narcotics, authorities said.
“The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to aggressively investigating and prosecuting those responsible for the distribution of fentanyl and other dangerous drugs in our communities,” the department stated in a release.
Anyone with information about the distribution of illegal narcotics is urged to contact the Galveston County Organized Crime Task Force.
