COUNTYWIDE — A law enforcement crackdown known as Operation Firecracker has concluded with the arrest of 74 individuals across Galveston County and surrounding areas, according to a press release from the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office.
The three-week operation, which ran from June 11 through July 3, targeted violent offenders and led to 59 felony arrests and 39 misdemeanor arrests. Those taken into custody included suspects wanted for serious crimes such as aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, sexual assault of a child, felon in possession of a firearm, and indecency with a child.




The operation was led by the Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Apprehension Division, with assistance from the Uniformed Operations Division and several law enforcement partners at the local, state, and federal levels. Agencies involved included the Texas City and Galveston police departments, Harris County Precinct 7 and 8 constables’ offices, the Texas Department of Public Safety’s Criminal Investigations Division, Galveston County Adult Probation, and the U.S. Marshals Service’s Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force.
“The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to the safety of our communities and will continue to pursue violent offenders who pose a threat to public safety,” the release stated.
