TEXAS CITY — A new wave of warmth and comfort food has arrived in Texas City as Lercy’s Diner officially opened its doors on May 27th, drawing smiles, cheers, and even a few tears at a celebratory ribbon cutting ceremony.

“This is going to be our new home,” said co-owner Joy Cooper, according to a statement released by the City of Texas City.

She and her husband Mark reflected on their journey into the restaurant business after leaving longtime careers in healthcare and sales.

Their leap of faith has paid off. Starting in their hometown of Winnie, Lercy’s Diner grew to a second location in Mont Belvieu. Now, the opening of their third restaurant in Texas City represents not just expansion—but a new chapter.

“It’s always about people,” Joy said in the city’s release.

She credited their success to loyal customers, dedicated staff, and an unshakable commitment to friendly, quality service.

With Mark handling customer relations and Joy bringing her culinary skills to the kitchen, the pair has built more than just a restaurant—they’ve created a gathering place where visitors can feel at home.

The City of Texas City congratulated the couple in its public statement, praising their business values and welcoming them to the community.

“Your delicious food and friendly service truly give that home-away-from-home feeling, and we are proud you can call Texas City home as well,” the city said.
