GALVESTON – Pickle lovers packed the lawn at Galveston Island Brewing on Saturday for the second annual Pickle Palooza, a day-long celebration of all things brined, sweet, spicy, and sour.
The brewery partnered with ATC Event Management to bring in over 30 vendors, with more than half offering pickled products—from traditional cucumbers to cauliflower, okra, and even fruit.
“We had over 1,000 people last year, so we knew we had to make it bigger,” Charday Vanorstrand, Event Organizer told KGTX 7. “Pickles are very popular, so we didn’t have to push it too hard advertising-wise.”

Attendees sampled pickle beer, pickle lemonade, pickle sno-cones, and other creative twists, while food trucks served up themed dishes like pickle grilled cheese and fried pickle sandwiches.
Contests ran throughout the afternoon, including the first-ever Pickle Queen Pageant, pickle partner toss, pickle juice chug, and pickle eating competition. Winners of the Pickled Competition were announced at 6 p.m., with categories ranging from Best Spicy to Best Bread & Butter.

Kids enjoyed crafts and games, while adults browsed vendor booths and relaxed with a cold beer. Costumed guests in green tutus, pickle hats, and brine-themed outfits rounded out the quirky atmosphere.
As for a favorite bite of the day? “I love the pickle cauliflower,” Vanorstrand said with a smile.
With strong turnout, unique vendors, and plenty of flavor, organizers say Pickle Palooza plans to return next year—bigger and brinier than ever.
