LEAGUE CITY — Two men were arrested Saturday night following a suspected road rage incident that involved gunfire along the northbound lanes of Interstate 45, according to a press release from the League City Police Department.

The incident happened around 10:45 p.m. on July 19, when officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 3300 block of the S IH 45 Northbound main lanes. Police were already in the area investigating a separate major crash just north of the scene, which had caused traffic to back up due to lane closures.

Witnesses reported seeing a white Toyota Tundra and a white GMC Sierra towing a trailer involved in the altercation. Officers located both vehicles in the stop-and-go traffic and safely detained all occupants without incident.

The driver of the GMC, identified as 27-year-old Ronald Miranda Ramos of Houston, was charged with deadly conduct – discharge of a firearm. His bond was set at $25,000.

The driver of the Toyota, 32-year-old Jose Quintanilla of Katy, was found in possession of less than one gram of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 1, which police identified as cocaine. He was charged accordingly, with a bond set at $15,000.

Through interviews, vehicle searches, and evidence collection, officers determined Ramos fired a handgun during the incident, while Quintanilla was in possession of the illegal substance. Both men were transported to the League City Jail.
