FRIENDSWOOD — Friendswood police detained three men early Friday morning following a burglary at a business in the 1500 block of W. Parkwood Avenue.
According to the Friendswood Police Department, officers responded at 12:46 a.m. on August 1 to a report of a burglary in progress. Within two minutes, officers arrived and spotted a Ford sedan with a paper license plate and a Lincoln sedan leaving the area.
Both vehicles were stopped. Police say the passenger in the Lincoln attempted to run and jumped off the Chigger Creek Bridge. While officers were giving medical aid, the man reportedly spit on them. He was taken to a local hospital and remains in critical condition.
The other two suspects were taken to the Friendswood City Jail. Officers recovered approximately $30,000 in merchandise from the Lincoln.

The Galveston County District Attorney’s Office filed the following charges:
- Bijan Rashidi, 44, of Houston: Harassment of a Public Servant and Theft. Bond set at $500,000.
- Tedrick Garland, 41, of Houston: Theft. Bond set at $250,000.
- Edgardo Ortiz, 46, of Houston: Theft. Bond set at $100,000.
Chief Josh Rogers said in a statement, “Criminals who think they can come into Friendswood and commit crimes without consequences are mistaken. Our officers are highly trained, vigilant, and committed to swift, effective enforcement.”
