SANTA FE — A new online radio station based in Santa Fe is hosting its grand opening this week, with a ribbon cutting scheduled for Saturday, August 9 at 10am.
TexRed Music, was founded by Santa Fe resident Mike Todaro, who began working as a DJ in 1976. Shortly after, he attended the Columbia School of Broadcasting in 1981. The station plays a variety of country music, with a focus on Texas country and lesser-known or unique styles within the genre.
Todaro, a retired police officer with 45 years of service, has also spent about 40 years in music. Matthew Smith, Todaro’s Stepson said starting a radio station was a longtime goal of his, and after retiring, Todaro was encouraged by a friend to finally pursue it.

The station currently airs live broadcasts Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., and again from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., with co-hosting in the afternoon by former KILT host Tom Fontain.
“It’s pretty wild how we have people from all over, tuning into listen.” said Todaro. “We even have listeners in Nebraska and Costa Rica.” he added.
TexRed Music streams online at TexRedMusic.com and is also available on the Live365 and iHeartRadio mobile apps.
Saturday’s grand opening begins at 10 a.m. at the station studio, located at 12521 Highway 6 in Santa Fe.
The Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce is scheduled to conduct a ribbon cutting as part of the event.
