GALVESTON — Brenton Edwards, 46, of Louisiana, was arrested Friday morning following allegations that he assaulted his wife by hitting her with a truck, threatened her with a gun, and possessed a controlled substance, according to a Galveston Press Release.
Police responded to multiple calls about an accident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian, as well as a disturbance between a man and woman, around 10:57 a.m. in the 2800 block of 61st Street. Upon arrival, officers found Edwards’ wife with multiple injuries inside a nearby business.
The woman told police that Edwards had threatened her with a gun and that he was still armed, prompting a search. Officers located Edwards in a vehicle near 15th Street and Avenue O. A struggle ensued during the arrest, which involved a police dog.
Edwards was charged with assault causing bodily injury to a family member, terroristic threat against family, and possession of a controlled substance. He was taken to the county jail and held on a $20,000 bond.
Police said the woman’s current condition is unknown.
