DICKINSON – A disabled woman died Tuesday night after being trapped in a mobile home fire at the Turtle Creek Crossing mobile home park, according to Dickinson Volunteer Fire Department Chief Keith Morgan and i45NOW.

Firefighters were dispatched around 9:40 p.m. to a mobile home fire at 2815 California Avenue, with reports that someone might be inside. By the time the first truck arrived at approximately 9:50 p.m., three-quarters of the home were engulfed in flames, according to statements from Morgan to i45NOW.

Neighbors told responders they believed the woman was in the back of the home, prompting firefighters to direct the first water line toward the rear. However, no one was found there.

The fire was brought under control by 9:54 p.m., at which point crews discovered the woman’s body in the front section of the mobile home.

Morgan said the woman’s family was present at the scene. Her identity has not yet been released, pending confirmation from the Galveston County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, though initial reports suggest an electrical issue may have contributed.
