LEAGUE CITY – A burglary last Wednesday morning at the League City Ace Hardware resulted in the theft of more than $3,700 in power tools, police said.
Officers responded at approximately 3:23 a.m. to a burglary alarm at the store, located at 1915 W. League City Parkway, Suite 100. When they arrived, the store’s front glass door had been shattered, but no suspects were on scene, according to the League City Police Department.
Surveillance footage shows three suspects wearing hoodies, face coverings, and gloves arriving in a stolen silver SUV. Two of the suspects entered the store for roughly five minutes, stole merchandise, and then fled. A total of 23 power hand tools, including popular brands such as Dewalt and Craftsman, were taken.
This is not the first time the store has been targeted. A previous burglary occurred on January 21, 2022, which involved only one suspect, the store said.
Keyur Amin, owner of the store, told KGTX 7 that the burglary was complicated by a delay in response after the alarm company mistakenly contacted Galveston County authorities instead of League City Police. “The two suspects inside moved quickly,” Amin said. “They were in the store for only about five minutes, but they took expensive tools, including drills, saws, and other equipment.”
Amin said the theft has been a significant setback for his business, which serves both contractors and residents in the area. “These tools are not only costly, but they’re essential for our customers and our operations,” he said. “Replacing them will take time and money.”
The League City Police Department confirmed the investigation is ongoing and urged anyone with information about the suspects or the vehicle to call 281-332-2566. Authorities also remind business owners to regularly test their alarm systems and ensure emergency contact information is accurate to avoid delays in response.
