San Leon Traffic Stop Leads to over 30 Grams of Meth

SAN LEON — A routine traffic stop in San Leon led to the arrest of a man for possession of methamphetamine, the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office reported Monday.

The Sheriff’s Office Crime Reduction Unit said deputies conducted the stop on a motorcycle in the 500 block of 16th Street for an expired registration.

The driver, identified as 60-year-old John Grant of Galveston, was arrested for the traffic violation.

During an inventory search of the motorcycle, deputies discovered approximately 31 grams of methamphetamine concealed under the seat near the battery.

Grant was charged with possession of a controlled substance (PG 1, more than 4 grams but less than 200 grams) and held on an $80,000 bond at the Galveston County Jail.
