LEAGUE CITY — Vickie Wright, a fifth-grade teacher at Margaret S. McWhirter Elementary, has been selected as the 2026 Region 4 Elementary Teacher of the Year, according to the Clear Creek Independent School District.

Wright, who has 14 years of classroom experience, will now represent CCISD and the Houston area in the Texas Teachers of the Year program, coordinated by the Texas Association of School Administrators. She is known for her student-centered teaching style and her commitment to creating a classroom where all students feel supported and inspired to succeed.

Region 4 serves 47 public school districts and 43 charter schools in the Houston area. Each year, an impartial panel selects one elementary and one secondary teacher to represent the region at the state level after an extensive review and interview process.

To celebrate Wright’s recognition, McWhirter Elementary will host a community pep rally on Thursday, Sept. 4, from 10 to 10:30 a.m. at the campus, located at 300 Pennsylvania Ave. in Webster. CCISD Superintendent Dr. Karen Engle, members of the Board of Trustees, PTA leadership, Rotary Club representatives, City of Webster officials, and Region 4 leaders are expected to attend.
