TEXAS CITY — College of the Mainland (COM) will host a Health Careers Open House and Community Health Fair on Saturday, Sept. 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the COM STEM Building.

Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about COM’s health programs, including nursing, radiologic technology, surgical technology and dental hygiene, while meeting with students and faculty. Local health organizations will also be on hand to provide free resources and information.

The Galveston County Regional Blood Center and the University of Texas Medical Branch Mammography Van will participate, with the van offering free mammography screenings on site.

“Whether you’re considering a new career in health care, searching for resources to support your family’s well-being, or simply curious about what COM has to offer, this event is a wonderful place to start,” said Candace Holmes, a COM enrollment coach.

The fair will coincide with Fiesta Comunidad, COM’s annual Hispanic Heritage Month celebration. That event will feature live music, cultural performances and family-friendly activities.

Both events are free and open to the public. For details on the health fair, call 409-933-8286. Information on Fiesta Comunidad is available at com.edu/fiesta.
