TEXAS CITY — According to a press release from the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, on Thursday, September 11, 2025, Jennifer Renee Laird, of Houston, was arrested by deputies with the Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Apprehension Division in the 1800 block of 9th Avenue North in Texas City.
Laird, who was serving as the Communications Director for the City of Texas City at the time, was taken into custody on a third-degree felony charge of Online Harassment – Name/Persona to Create Page. The arrest warrant was obtained by the La Marque Police Department.
This marks the second arrest of a Texas City official this year for charges related to online impersonation. The first arrest took place in June, of multimedia specialist Derek Miller, who impersonated La Marque City Councilman Joseph Lowry.
