LA MARQUE – A 14-year-old girl has been taken into custody after investigators linked her to threats made against La Marque High School, according to the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say the threats, which were sent via email to city officials and school administrators on September 11, prompted an immediate investigation. Detectives traced the originating IP address and, with assistance from the La Marque Police Department, located the suspect at her residence in Texas City.
Evidence was recovered at the scene, and the teen was arrested on the charge of False Alarm or Report (Texas Penal Code 42.06), a state jail felony.
“The La Marque Police Department takes all threats against our schools and children very seriously,” officials said in a statement. “We are committed to thoroughly investigating these incidents and pursuing prosecution to the fullest extent of the law.”
The investigation remains ongoing.
