GALVESTON — A 16-year-old girl has been taken into custody after allegedly shooting and killing her mother in Galveston Thursday evening, according to police.
Officers responded to a home in the 5100 block of Avenue Q around 7:49 p.m. after reports of multiple gunshots. When they arrived, they found 34-year-old Tiamoya Moore suffering from several gunshot wounds. She was transported to the University of Texas Medical Branch emergency room, where she was later pronounced dead.
Investigators said witnesses identified Moore’s teenage daughter as the shooter. Police say the girl initially fled the scene but later returned while investigators were still present. She was taken into custody without incident, and a firearm was recovered nearby.
The teen is being held at the Jerry J. Esmond Juvenile Justice Center on a murder charge.
The investigation remains ongoing.
