A man accused of stealing a tractor and trailer in Alvin earlier this month has been arrested following an investigation by the Gulf Coast Auto Crimes Task Force.

The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office said the theft happened on Sept. 8 in the 18000 block of County Road 154. Detectives, with help from Precinct 1 Constable’s Office and tips from the community, identified 36-year-old Joshua Weeks as the suspect. Surveillance video also helped investigators connect a suspect vehicle to the case.

The stolen tractor and trailer were later recovered in Sugar Land, according to officials.

The Galveston County District Attorney’s Office approved an arrest warrant for Weeks on a charge of theft of property valued at $30,000 to $150,000. His bond was set at $250,000.

The task force thanked the Precinct 1 Constable’s Office for its assistance and said it remains committed to protecting residents and their property.
