GALVESTON — Galveston Island will host two maritime-themed events this weekend.
The second annual Galveston Pirate Festival runs Friday through Sunday, with activities at multiple locations. Events begin Sept. 19 in Historic Downtown Galveston, continue Sept. 20 at Seawolf Park, and conclude Sept. 21 with tours across the island. Tickets start at $25. The festival will feature historical reenactments, guided pirate history tours, treasure hunts, and a costume contest.
On Sept. 20, Galveston Texian Navy Day will take place at Pier 21, 2100 Harborside Drive, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Visitors can watch a boat parade for free and attend presentations, educational displays, live music, and a barbecue dinner. Admission varies for other events. The day celebrates the history of the Navy and Marine Corps of the Republic of Texas.
Both events aim to highlight Galveston’s maritime heritage and provide family-friendly activities.
