LEAGUE CITY — The League City Police Department’s Business District Unit arrested three individuals earlier this month in connection with multiple retail thefts, according to a press release.

Officers detained 53-year-old Oscar Allen Jr. of Texas City, 62-year-old Joseph Rideaux of Friendswood, and 58-year-old Alicia Smith of La Marque following a theft in progress at the League City Kohl’s on September 5. Kohl’s Loss Prevention contacted Officer Martin, who located the suspect vehicle leaving the store and initiated a traffic stop. With assistance from BDU Officer Stillman and K9 Officer McIntyre, all three suspects were safely detained.

Police recovered stolen merchandise from the Kohl’s location as well as items believed to have been taken from other stores. Further investigation indicated the suspects were involved in thefts at another Kohl’s in Houston, a Victoria’s Secret, and an additional store still being identified.

Each suspect was charged with Organized Retail Theft, a state jail felony, and bond was set at $60,000. Police noted that Alicia Smith has 18 prior theft convictions.

The Business District Unit works closely with local retailers to prevent theft, protect businesses, and hold repeat offenders accountable, according to the department.
