FRIENDSWOOD – Friendswood High School is gearing up for its annual Homecoming Parade, set for Thursday, Oct. 2, as part of Homecoming Week running Sept. 29 through Oct. 4.
This year’s theme, announced by the Student Council, is “Game On, Stangs!” inspired by video games and board games. The parade will conclude with a pep rally in the Chase Bank parking lot, where the Homecoming Court will be introduced.
To accommodate the parade, FM 518 (Friendswood Drive) will close between FM 2351 and Clearview Avenue beginning at 6:20 p.m. on Oct. 2. The parade is expected to last about 30 minutes.
Police officers, barricades and traffic cones will be in place along FM 518 to help manage closures and keep traffic flowing. The City of Friendswood has announced the following alternate routes for drivers:
Northbound on FM 518 toward FM 2351: Turn right on Clearview Avenue, left on Quaker Drive, left on East Heritage Drive, then right on Pecan Drive to reach FM 2351.
Westbound on FM 2351 from Hwy. 35 to FM 528: Turn left onto Sunset Drive to access FM 528.
Eastbound on FM 2351 from I-45 to FM 528: Turn right onto Blackhawk Boulevard to reach FM 528.
The community is encouraged to arrive early, cheer on the parade, and take part in the pep rally celebration.
