La Porte Defeats Friendswood 57–21 Behind Strong Rushing Attack

The La Porte Bulldogs opened District 11-5A-I play with a 57-21 win over the Friendswood Mustangs on Friday, September 26.

According to the Daily News, La Porte piled up more than 500 rushing yards, with senior running back Sean Simon carrying 30 times for 264 yards and five touchdowns. Teammate Ashton Ruffin added 140 yards on the ground, including a first-quarter touchdown.

Friendswood responded with a 94-yard kickoff return from Gianni Gerami and later a 35-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Josh Brister to wide receiver A.J. Parker. Brister finished with 179 passing yards.

Turnovers proved key in the second half as La Porte converted both a fumble recovery and an interception into touchdowns to pull away for the victory.
