HITCHCOCK — The City of Hitchcock will host its annual Fall Clean-Up on Saturday, Oct. 11, giving residents a chance to dispose of non-hazardous waste free of charge.

The drop-off site will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the City Barn, 8401 Schiro. AmeriWaste Services will operate the temporary collection point in partnership with the city, officials said in a release.

The service is available to Hitchcock residents only, and participants will need to show a current city utility bill and valid photo identification. Each household is limited to two pickup truck loads or one trailer load, with trailers no larger than 16 feet long by 4 feet high.

Accepted items include car batteries, furniture, stoves, certain BBQ pits, and up to four passenger tires without rims. Hazardous materials, household garbage, paint, appliances such as washers and dryers, propane tanks, and commercial waste will not be accepted.

All materials must be separated by the resident before drop-off. The city and AmeriWaste employees will not sort items at the site.

For questions, residents can call AmeriWaste at 281-331-8400 or the City of Hitchcock at 409-986-5591.
