ANGLETON — Authorities are investigating a shooting near Angleton that left two children dead and two others critically injured on Saturday.

According to the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called earlier today to reports of a shooting involving multiple children. When they arrived, they found four victims — ages 13, 9, 8, and 4.

Officials say the 13-year-old and 4-year-old were pronounced dead at the scene. The 8- and 9-year-old children were airlifted by Life Flight to the hospital in critical condition.

Investigators are still working to determine what led to the shooting, but say all individuals believed to be involved have been detained. Authorities emphasized there is no ongoing threat to the community.

“The loss of two children in such a manner is a tragedy,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement. “Our thoughts are with the family and everyone affected as we continue to learn more about this heartbreaking situation.”

The investigation is ongoing, and more details are expected to be released as they become available.
