Friendswood falls to Crosby despite second half turnaround, 39-30

On Friendswood’s homecoming game, things didn’t turn out as expected against the Crosby Cougars. Despite their second half rebound, Friendswood’s efforts weren’t enough to overcome the odds.

The first half looked to be over right out of the gate. The Cougars roared with a 25-point offensive onslaught. A 37 yard touchdown pass from quarterback Lott Robison to receiver T-zion Sutherland, a 5 yard QB rushing touchdown from Robison, Sutherland answering again with another touchdown from a 10-yard screen pass.

The lead was 25-2. Then, the Mustangs, for a moment, flipped the switch. Friendswood responded in the third quarter with a one-yard QB sneak touchdown from quarterback Josh Brister. From that point, Brister threw two touchdown passes to receivers Jaxon Black (for 10 yards) and AJ Parker (36 yards), cutting the Cougars lead to three, 25-22.

But the Cougars shut down all the momentum that the Mustangs had going for them in the third quarter. Robison dashed in for a four-yard dash into the end-zone, and an 18-yard touchdown throw to receiver Carson Parker on a post route to ice the game. Cougars won at the end of regulation, 39-30.

Next week, Crosby will host the 3-2 Kingwood Park Panthers to hopefully rebound to a .500 record, and Friendswood will travel to Angleton, TX to face the Wildcats.
