LA MARQUE — Federal and local law enforcement officers raided a building in La Marque Monday morning under a federal weapons warrant, taking one person into custody and finding explosive materials inside, according to The Galveston County Daily News.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) led the operation, which began shortly before 9 a.m. along FM 1765 between South Bell Street and Porter Street.

Galveston County Sheriff Jimmy Fullen told the Daily News his office assisted in the warrant execution alongside tactical teams from the League City Combined Area Response Team and Harris County SWAT. Officers surrounded the building before entering.

Law enforcement used robots and drones to inspect the property before agents and deputies went inside, Fullen said. During the search, investigators found weapons and explosive materials. After the building was secured, ATF agents were seen removing bags containing what appeared to be large quantities of prescription drug bottles and other paraphernalia.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident. Authorities have not released the person’s name or any information about potential charges.

Sections of FM 1765 between South Bell Street and Porter Street were closed for several hours while the search was underway.

Agueda Jimenez, La Marque’s Communications Coordinator told KGTX 7 that La Marque PD was made aware of the raid, but was not involved. No further comment was given by the city.

The ATF is leading the ongoing investigation.
