DICKINSON — A registered sex offender has been arrested in Dickinson following an investigation into child pornography, according to the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office.
Detective A. Espinosa with the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit, a member of the Houston Metro Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, began investigating in September after receiving a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).
On October 7, members of the Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Houston Metro ICAC Task Force executed a search warrant at a residence in the 4500 block of East 38th Street.
During the search, investigators seized multiple cell phones and a small amount of methamphetamine. Detectives say a forensic review of the devices revealed evidence of child pornography.
The suspect, identified as David Eric Skog, 50, was arrested and charged with possession of child pornography involving more than 10 but fewer than 50 visual depictions, possession of visual material depicting a sexual assault, and failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements.
Skog’s total bond was set at $750,000.
The Sheriff’s Office credited the collaborative efforts of the Houston Metro ICAC Task Force, which includes members from Homeland Security Investigations–Galveston, Dickinson Police Department, La Porte Police Department, Pearland Police Department, Hitchcock Police Department, Texas City Police Department, Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office, and the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division.
The Sheriff’s Office also thanked its Crime Scene Unit for assisting in the case.
