TEXAS CITY – The City of Texas City will hold a Halloween-themed event on Saturday, October 11, at the new 6th Street Community Plaza. The event will include trick-or-treating, photo areas, and craft projects from 6 to 9:30 p.m. The band Rapture will perform from 7 to 9:30 p.m. with a mix of Top 40, pop, rock, Latino, country, and R&B music.

According to a press release, the 6th Street Community Plaza opened less than a month ago and is funded by the Texas City Economic Development Corporation. It includes a playground, dog park, splash pad, food truck park, and amphitheater.

City spokesperson Jennifer Laird said the plaza has been busy since opening. “There are always people enjoying the food trucks, splash pad, playground, and dog park,” she said.

Economic Development Director Kristin Edwards said the plaza is meant to bring more visitors to downtown. “We hope people will visit the plaza and also enjoy the nearby restaurants and shops,” Edwards said.

The plaza is located at 718 6th Street N. in Texas City. The Halloween event is free and open to the public. More information is available at http://www.texascitytx.gov
