KEMAH — Authorities said Monday that the victim of a weekend shooting in Kemah, initially reported deceased, is being maintained on life support for organ donation.
Police Chief Raymond Garivey said the hospital pronounced the victim deceased at 3:13 p.m. Monday, but the body remains on life support to preserve organs. Hospital staff plan to remove life support at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Investigators continue interviewing witnesses, and any decision on criminal charges will depend on the outcome of the ongoing investigation.

KEMAH — One of two people injured in a weekend shooting in Kemah has died, according to Police Chief Raymond Garivey.
Garivey told KGTX 7 that the victim, who had suffered a gunshot wound to the face, was pronounced dead at 3:13 p.m. Monday. The person’s name has not been released pending notification of relatives.
The shooting happened about 1:42 a.m. Sunday at a home in the 400 block of Bay Avenue. Officers found two people with gunshot wounds, and both were taken to UTMB Clear Lake Hospital, police said.
The suspect was taken into custody at the scene. Garivey said investigators are still interviewing witnesses, and any decision on whether to pursue murder charges will depend on the outcome of the investigation.
Police said the shooting appeared to be isolated and that there is no ongoing threat to the community.
